Rood en Wit (Red and White) is one of the oldest cricketclubs in The Netherlands, founded in 1881. In 1911 we started playing at the Spanjaardslaan, on the border of Heemstede and Haarlem. Since 2017 we are playing at Eindenhout, Wagenweg 240, Haarlem and have a lovely English style cricket clubhouse (looks like a pub). We are one of the bigger clubs with 6 seniorteams: 2 on Saturday, 3 on Sunday, one on Wednesday, a women's XI and a youth section of around 100 children, varying from 6 till 18.
During the summer we have two pitches, all aritificial matting. And the netts, consits of three pitches and we have a bolwingmachine. We have a beautifull clubhouse with fully licensed bar and Sky Sports available. The clubhouse is normally open on matchdays for players and spectators from 9 till 9 and every evening in cricketseason.
The cricketseason runs from the start of May until the end of August, each team playing around 14 leaguegames. Our First XI is playing in the second highest division (Hoofd-klasse).Training starts around half April; before that there is indoortraining in the Beyneshal in Haarlem. Red and White has all levels of cricket at the club running from the league in Holland (Hoofdklasse) men and women (hoofdklasse) and through to a Veterans side and the social Saturday XI.
Red and White has a huge youth section with leaguecricket being played from about 5-6 years. There are 6 agegroups:The Petjes 5-6, the "E-circus" (7-8) which travels around the area with plastic bats and stumps and balls, playing 6-a-side. The D-youth has two sections: the 8-10 year olds play cricket with pads and a cricketball with 8 a-side, while the 10-12 year olds play regular cricket; the C-youth plays under-14 cricket and ther is an U-16 team. All these teams play in the area Amsterdam, Bloemendaal. From the age of 16 many youth players play as well in a senior side, on all levels. Training is on weekdays from 4 'o clock onwards.
The First and Second IX-players train twice a week, which is compulsary. Training is not compulsary for lower teams, though many social cricketers turn up on Thursday-evening for a bowl, a bat and a beer..... afterwards in the clubhouse. Our coach does training for the topteams, an assistent coach is on hand for the social cricketers. We have three outdoor nets which are available for members to use at all times, except when there is regular training going on.
